March Madness, Marc Nolan Edition

While fall belongs to football, spring belongs to hoops. The madness is about to begin, you’re filling out your bracket, and you’re watching for that 12-5 seed upset. While the winners of March Madness aren’t determined by popular opinion, we decided to call on our Marc Nolan community to determine which of our new spring styles would win a tournament if it were up to them. Our Instagram followers voted between each of the matchups to bring you the top dogs. We were surprised by some of your picks, but that goes to show that just like basketball teams, you can’t underestimate any style — no matter the season. Here are the winners of each round and a little bit more about them.

Round 1

Knox Espresso Cap-toe Sneakers v. Dylan Navy Cap-toe Lace Ups

Dylan came out on top this round, boasting a mix of colors, textures and style. This blend of elements makes the lace ups extremely versatile — suitable for the workplace or the dance floor.
Knoxbrought some tough competition, though, with its rich chocolate hue and a chic and playful navy, light blue and charcoal sole. They’re best paired with showstopping looks, so if you want to stand out, he’s your guy.

Donovan Cognac Wingtip Chelsea Boots v. Harry Olive Chelsea Boots

In this boot-versus-boot matchup, sumptuous sheepskin suede triumphed over classic calfskin leather. Harry advanced to the next round with his one-of-a-kind olive hue and classic Chelsea boot style. This guy works well with suits or more casual trousers and sweaters for a street style-worthy look.
Though Donovanshares some similarities with Harry, he’s more of a statement-maker with chestnut brown leather peppered with brogue detailing and striking crimson elastic inserts. This shoe is for the stylish gentlemen who without a doubt wants to stand out.

Boardwalk Mahogany Horse-bit Sneakers v. Abe Cognac Plaid Penny Loafers

While mixed textures put Dylan on top, the minimalistic yet chic look of the Boardwalkwon the people over. This pair from the new Chancellor Collection is part slip-on sneaker, part horse-bit loafer — helping you walk not only with confidence but with style and comfort too.
Abe does have a lot going for it though. The blend of print, materials and color combine to create an unexpected but not unpleasant match.

Venice Black Lace Up Sneakers v. Camden Chestnut High-top Sneakers

Once again a more understated sneaker advanced to the next round of the tournament. The only high-top contender in the bracket, Camdenbrings all the spring vibes with a chic and cheery chestnut hue. Its contrasting design elements come together to make him a power player and an everyday, any-outfit shoe.
However, you can’t deny that Italian Merino wool in a chic zigzag pattern brings the sophistication with the Venice. Plus, they’re perfect for those transitional rainy says with durable and weather-resistant black rubber soles.

Semi-Finals

Dylan Navy Cap-toe Lace Ups v. Harry Olive Chelsea Boots

Wool blend took on full-texture in this matchup against Dylan and Harry. The lighter of the two — Harry — rose to the top, with consistent texture and a versatile color palette that wooed the crowds.

Boardwalk Mahogany Horse-bit Sneakers v. Camden Chestnut High-top Sneakers

On this side of the bracket, we had mahogany versus chestnut, high-top versus slip-on. The stylish simplicity of the slip-on sneaker prevailed, securing a Chancellor Collection style a spot in the finals.
Finals

Harry Olive Chelsea Boots v. Boardwalk Mahogany Horse-bit Sneakers

The people voted, and these two contenders met for the final face-off in the tournament. It was between two very different styles from the same Spring Collection. A sheepskin suede olive boot on one hand and mahogany calfskin leather slip-on sneakers on the other. It was neck and neck, but the Harry Olive Chelsea Boots claimed this year’s title.
